Does APS save money?
Yes, indeed. It saves several thousands of rupees every year for the owners. And the product cost can be recovered in a few years. Detailed explanations are given in the sections below. There are two parts to the saving.
- One-time cost saving (primarily for new buildings)
- Recurring cost saving

One-time Cost Saving
A building with APS installed at the power entry (that is, the DB box) doesn’t need stabilizers and hence the cost of stabilizers is a direct saving. However, this is primarily applicable only for new buildings.
Recurring Cost Saving
There are several indirect (and not so obvious) ways the APS reduces the cost. The details are explained in the three sections below. The extend of the saving depends on the quantity and price of the appliances in the building. Hence it is impossible to accurately estimate the saving. However, it is easy to arrive at an approximate estimation using the excel sheet attached further below.
Elimination of Stabilizers
Each stabilizer consumes about 8W power. In a building, there are usually several stabilizers (one each for TV, Refrigerator, AC etc.) and hence the cumulative energy consumption is significant
Inverter charging cycles
The inverter charging and discharging process results in significant wastage of energy. Low quality materials & electronics used in some inverters further aggravates this problem. The automatic phase selection feature of the APS significantly reduces the charging & discharging cycles thus saving cost
Maintenance & Replacement
The voltage fluctuations in the electric line slowly & steadily degrades your appliances and eventually damages them. APS protects your appliances from voltage fluctuations and increases their life. It also protects your appliances from disastrous faults like lightning surges and floating neutral.
